Ah, found the six device limit – as well as the bit where they specifically mention that if you pass your download limit, you have to repurchase.

@abhi What’s your source on the 6 device limit? Aside from that – the purchase is linked to your account. The only way the ‘keep sharing the same book’ bit makes any sense is if you have more than six devices, linked to one amazon account, with a credit card. It’s not possible to send a book to someone else’s account right now in any case.

that article is nonsense.
the number of devices you can download a book to is capped at 6.
which is reasonable given otherwise people would just keep sharing the same book.

he wrote that article based on one misinfromed customer service rep.

These days, you are not purchasing a copy of a work, but paying to license a use of the work. In their minds, this is how they get around the possibility of selling one legit copy and then having it spread to everyone. However, the purchaser still believes he is buying a copy and not a limited right to use the work. This deception is the problem.
